Next week the centre of Bath will be bedecked with colourful crocheted flowers created in yarn from Rico Design
The flowery “yarn bombing” is part of Bath in Fashion
(18-24 April 2016) which this year has a programme focused on colour and textiles are interwoven with a line-up of top fashion designers and media speakers including fashion icon Zandra Rhodes, Erdem, Julien MacDonald and Nicholas Oakwell.
The festival has chosen the RUH Forever Friends Cancer Care
as its charity and queen of crochet, Emma Leith
is creating the colourful yarn bomb on Milsom Street inspired by the vibrant colours of Zandra Rhodes.
“Having been recently diagnosed with breast cancer, I am thrilled that we can support the RUH in raising awareness of their Cancer Care appeal which will provide a much needed facility for the region” said Emma Leith.
Flower posts in the heart of the city will be wrapped in crocheted scarves and adorned with a spectacular arrangement of vibrant flowers many of which have been created at community crochet with coffee sessions and patients at the hospital have also had a chance to make flowers. Plus Bath in Fashion has asked crochet enthusiasts to by downloading the pattern
and creating their own contributions.
Look out for the display next week.
